What is Storage Silo ?

A Storage Silo, refers to the cylindrical container which is designed for the storage of bulk materials such as grains, powders, liquids, and other granular substances.   • Cylindrical Body: The typical shape of storage silo is vertical cylinder which provides an internal space for storing the bulk material. The diameter and height of the silo are made as per the storage capacity required.

  • Roof: The top of the silo is covered by a Top Lid that protects the stored material from exposure to weather elements such as rain, snow, and sunlight. The roof can be conical, domed, or flat, depending on the design and purpose of the silo.

  • Bottom Cone: The typical shape of bottom part of silo is of Conical shape, which allows the material to flow towards the discharge point due to gravitational forces. The angle of the cone is directly affects the flow characteristics of the stored material.

  • Access Port: Silos have one or more access points, often equipped with doors or hatches, through which operators can enter for maintenance, inspection, and cleaning.
